“…and then, when it should be dark, it isn’t.”
Afterglows are something that I’ve wanted to offer my clients for a long time. If you’ve ever seen an afterglow, you’ll know that it shows up when it shouldn’t. Afterglows are the lingering phenomenon of light remaining when no apparent source can be seen or found. They remain for just a short time after the sun sets, and then, when it should be dark, it isn’t.
I’m offering Afterglow sessions to anyone who is faced with having to say goodbye to their beloved animal partner. They’re available exclusively to people with terminally ill or elderly pets and are free of charge. I ask only that you make a kind donation to your local animal shelter in memory of your wonderful partner when the time comes.
Afterglows are shot at the location of your choice. Because of the time sensitive nature for which these are often required, I can come to you or you’re welcome to come to me, or we can meet along the way.
My first real Afterglow session was for one of my best friends, Jill, and her gorgeous bay gelding, Bill. I titled her blog post “Afterglow” because despite it being noon on a bright sunny day, the light was soft and magical, and the photos we were able to capture that day are still some of my most memorable photos to date.
As an animal lover, and dog, cat, and horse mom myself, I know what these images can mean, what they’re for. They’re for memories and laughs, and healing tears, and they’re for that little bit of light when everything seems dark. My hope is that they will keep a small light in your heart forever.
