I love when people bring their dogs to their engagement sessions. People find it hard to talk about themselves, and even about each other, but they never have a hard time talking about their dog. Strangers in the park, people on the street, clients I’ve known for years: if I want them to be comfortable with me, I get them to open up about their dog. So Ellie came along and broke the ice for Katherine and Matt and me. She snuggled and perked her ears and ran around like a fool. I watched them laugh at her and hold her close and look at each other knowingly when she did funny, Ellie-esque things. I love when people bring an Ellie along. I owe your dogs. Bigtime.
Katherine and Matt (and Ellie, too) drove from PEI to shoot with me in Truro. Katherine specifically asked if we could shoot in the park and around the Agricultural College campus (now the Dal AC), and once I met them, I immediately knew why. This is where they’re from together. This is where their “we” started and where it blossomed. We shot throughout the park and then ventured to the AC barns. Watching them both remember and take in the places that brought them together was a privilege. Between loving on calves and snuggling lambs, they made a bit of time for each other and even glanced my way once in awhile!
Katherine and Matt, you guys are so fun and so perfect for each other. Thank you for finding me and trusting me and saving me from those attack calves! Can’t wait to see you again this summer, and then for the finale – or is it just the beginning?- in October!
